Sorting Cash Buyers From Wholesalers

I've seen it said that one way to find cash buyers is to call up people who post "We buy houses" ads. My question is how do you sort out real cash buyers from people who are just wholesaling. It seems that wholesalers often present themselves as cash buyers when they usually aren't. I'm not sure it's the best use of my time sending deals to people who cannot close on a deal.

What's that line Tom Cruise had to learn how to say from the movie "Jerry Maguire"? "Show me the money!"

OK, now that we've had our fun, here's what you want to do. Look up their name or company name in the recorder of deeds or tax assessor sites for the areas where they supposedly buy. A real buyer would actually have their name show up; a wholesaler just wishes their name might show up there :)
