reuse stamps for direct mail?

i dont know it this question has been asked before but if someone sends me a letter with stamp on it, can I cut it out and re use it for my direct mail? Thanks

I think you would spend more time trying to save $.46 then working on your business. Don't be a penny smart, pound poor. Focus on ways to make more money rather then saving pennies by stealing.

I don't see why not. While you're at it you could do an in-house recycle of the paper and envelope so you can save on paper lol.

Just playing devils advocate..but like others have said that's in no way shape or form worth the time or risk.

Lauren  Hardy - amen sister! I would hope everyone's time is more valuable than the time it takes to remove and save something that is only worth $.46, but worst yet, probably ILLEGAL to be doing in the first place.

How are you going to remove it and re-attach it?  If your time to do that (so it doesn't look like you are reusing a stamp) is only worth 49 cents, go get a job at McDonalds.

Nothing is stopping you except maybe the postmark on the stamp. There are some ethics questions you might want to ask yourself.  As much as I love the post office you might want to rethink this a long term strategy.

Are you asking about a stamp to a letter that has been returned?

Clearly, if the stamp is marked/canceled, you can't reuse it.  But, if it got through the machine and didn't get marked, what about then?

I have no idea, so I did a Google search to try to find the answer...

Seems like no-one knows:

1.  The likelihood of getting caught;
2.  The penalty for getting caught.

But, most people seem to agree that once the stamp is in the hands of the USPS, you're no longer allowed to reuse it.

Of course, that's just stuff I found on the Internet, and we know how reliable that tends to be...  :)
