Question about Renter's Insurance
We own 2 rental properties that we rent to traveling nurses. These properties are completely furnished from top to bottom (furniture, linens, cookware, etc.) We pay the utilities. The individuals just bring a suitcase and move in. The rental period is typically 3-6 months. A couple of weeks ago a renter built a fire in the back yard in a man-made firepit which got out of control. The fire spread through a large part of the yard and burned 70 feet of a privacy fence and 1 wall of the shed. Now my insurance company is giving me a lot of hassle because the renters don't have renter's insurance. I have explained the circumstances but they are still pushing back hard and threatening to cancel my policy. Would be interested in how others handle insuring fully furnished, short term rentals. Thanks
