Insurance for Fixer Upprer

Robert Owen
Posted

Hello All,

I have a fixer-upper I'm working on, but it needs a whole gut renovation, and since the house in unihabitabvle, insurance won't cover it (at least the ones I found so far). I am looking for connections or optinos ot insurance agencies that would insure this project to its completion

You may want to look into a builder's risk policy or vacant property insurance. Most standard homeowners' policies won't cover a property that's uninhabitable during a major renovation, but there are specialty carriers that will.

What state is the property in? That may help people recommend specific insurance providers.
