Umbrella Insurance-who do we like? Why?

I am in the process of insurance shopping for an umbrella policy. What carriers do you recommend? Why? As always, I am grateful for all perspectives.

I have umbrella with State Farm.  It is pretty cheap in my opinion but I have all my insurance with them.

Christy, there are not many options for a stand alone Umbrella.

Most all of the companies like State Farm, All State, etc., will only write an Umbrella if they also insure the rentals.  They will not go over other insurance carriers.

That being said, I would first approach the insurance carrier that is insuring your rentals.  If that does not come up with an affordable option, there are 1-2 Umbrella options in the market that are under $1,000 per year per $1M, while the others have a minimum premium of $1,000.
