Nightmare tenant basement lease

Hi all,
First of all thank you for all the support I have received over these years. I am in a really precarious situation. I rented out my basement which I never wanted to an older woman who came through reference. She had evictions, collections .. all the red flags which I normally avoid but since she came from a good reference I thought it would be good enough to give a chance (I REGRET)!!

We do have a lease which is month to month. After she moved in she paid for a couple of months and then moved in her daughter and the daughter's kids together. And she moved out. i confronted her but she said her daughter was living there only for a few days since it was the holidays. Then the daughter got a cat and now she is cooking there, has kerosene tanks etc. I have sent her letters etc. and terminated the lease. I have also filed an ejectment for the daughter.

I do live on the first floor. The issue is I was told I need a CO for eviction and all basements are illegal in NJ although it has 2 egress, windows and fire alarms etc. How do I get this individual out of my house. She says that I will have to pay for her 6 months and relocation. Is there a way out. I think i should have never done a favor.

If I call code enforcement, what are the consequences.

I am in Newark NJ

Thanks!
