Fire ruining primary home
Hey folks,
It is heartbreaking to share this news. Last night, my brother and his wife were woken by the smell of smoke, followed quickly by their smoke detectors. A fire started in their garage and spread rapidly into the living room and upstairs of their newly purchased home. While we are relieved they are safe, the destruction is significant. They are currently working with State Farm to navigate the claims process, with damages estimated at over $100,000 on a $298,000 purchase. The fire chief noted that the home's structural frame remains largely intact, which gives us a small glimmer of hope for the rebuild. This is an overwhelming time for them, and we are seeking any advice or guidance from those who have faced something similar.
We are specifically looking for:
Insurance Navigation: Any tips for working with State Farm on a large-scale fire claim or specific questions they should be asking their adjuster.
Professional Recommendations: Advice on whether to hire a Public Adjuster to ensure they receive a fair settlement for the extensive damage.
Restoration Experts: Recommendations for local contractors who specialize in fire restoration and structural integrity.
As they start this long recovery process, any resources or lessons learned you can share would mean the world to our family.
