New investor trying to build a team?

Question

I'm in the Northern Kentucky area looking for direction on how to build my team (resources). Is there anyone in the BP community in my area that knows of some investor friendly closing agents.

I'm also interested to know the qualities and questions the rest of you ask or look for when building your team (closing agents, real estate attorney, real estate agents etc.)

Hi all!

I am a new investor in Western Kentucky, but I attended law school at Northern Kentucky University.  With respect to an attorney, I recommend looking into Michael Sutton.  He has a vast amount of experience in real estate.  Even if you do not believe he is the right choice, he can point you in the right direction.  You can search his name and Kentucky.

Hi Raymond, the best way to build a team is through referrals in my opinion. So I would join your local REIA and other business/real estate events and ask as many investors as you can for referrals for everything from a contractor to an attorney.

I used Union Savings Bank for both of my rehabs.  They provided a loan for the purchase price as well as the rehab costs (escrowed until completed though). They also have the lowest closing costs I have been able to find.

Thanks for the information, I will definitely look into these leads. Unfortunately @Andrew Syrios my current work schedule will not allow me to attend the REIA meetings, but I will have to do some research and find other ways to rub elbows with local investors.

I would recommend looking into Amerifirst Home Mortgage if you're interested in a bank loan. I used them for my personal residence.  I spoke with Elizabeth Deming from their Cincinnati branch earlier this week, and she explained their 203k and HomeStyle loan options for rehabs.  She seemed to be very investor-friendly, as long as you have the income to qualify for a loan.

My aunt is a paralegal, and she said that George Kolentse was "hands down the best real estate attorney."

I've heard Chicago Title was good, but I don't have any personal experience to back that up.

Hey Raymond,

I work in Hebron and live off the ft Wright exit. With only 1 multifamily unit I don't have much experience. I'm interested in the same question.

I used usbank. They gave me a loan, but it was not quick and I felt I had to push too much. Surprised me as I have very good credit (can't recall exactly but 700+ range). A friend of mine in Lexington likes republic bank. New merger of bb&t with bank of Kentucky should be interesting as well.
