Brand New Investor for Rochester, NY

Hey what's up everyone!! My name is Shawn. I am brand new to real estate investing and BP. I am a union carpenter and have been working in the trade for 12 years now. Mainly I work on commercial projects like hospitals, schools and office buildings, new construction and remodels.

After reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, I realize that I will never be able to achieve my dreams working for someone else achieving their dream. Which is one of he reasons why I decided to get involved in real estate. I have no experience other than purchasing my house but I am looking to learn as much as I can, so I can eventually become a professional investor.

Any recommendations on how or where to look for info to get started?  Many thanks!

Hi @Shawn Riley! Welcome to BP. If you want to learn, you've landed in the perfect place! BiggerPockets is a wealth of knowledge. I am relatively new here as well and absolutely love the podcasts. I have listened to about 35 thus far. I would suggest to dive in and look through all the links, podcasts, articles, ect and you will be well on your way. Happy learning!
