Anyone ever found one of these in their fridge???

Question

I've often found some weird things left behind after tenants move out, but this one might take the cake.  I recently asked a tenant to leave due to non-payment of rent, and when they left I noticed the refrigerator wasn't working properly.  It was running with nothing obviously wrong with it from the outside, but it wasn't cold.

I had my repair guy come over and we pulled it out from the wall and that's when we noticed it had been SHOT!  Yup...that's a bullet hole in the photo below.  I couldn't believe it.

I'm charging the tenant for a new fridge because somehow I don't think a bullet hole is considered normal wear-and-tear.

Anyone else have any good stories of things they've found to make me feel better about my wounded fridge?

Still smiling "my fridge got shot" lol. That story is so worth $500 for a new fridge.

Personally, I'd put some duct tape on the inside and outside of it, and you've got a new man cave fridge for yourself.

@Eric Hrlbock I'm sure that smelled wonderful.  Luckily for me the only things left behind in the fridge were 3 cans of Coors Light beer.  And they tasted fine...even if the mountains weren't blue.  :)

My wife rented a newly rehabbed house to some white trash. It was the last time she ever rented without doing all the screening. It went south real quick.

I was out of the country for a few months at the time, and I happened to enquire, "how is such and such property doing".......I was due home about two weeks later.

Essentially she was in the process of evicting these tenants, who had been there 4 months, had no power for 2 months, the place was utterly wrecked, and in the Florida summer heat - they left the dead fridge full of food.

Once she had them out, she saw the devestation. $500 4 month old fridge was so alive it practically walked itself to the right of way. The prognosis from the cleaning crew was that the chemicals they would need to use to clean it, probably wouldn't make it very safe as a fridge for food afterwards. German roaches were even crawling out of the fridge door seals, and had developed language skills they were that advanced.

In my wife's defense, she had her crew in, cleared, cleaned and repainted the place before I managed to get back into town. to this day I haven't seen the photos.

@Eric Hrlbock, I purchased a foreclosure about 10 years ago.  Everything had been cleaned out except for a 6' long chest freezer.  Of course the power had been off for over a year.  When I tried to lift it I could tell it was full.  I knew better than to open it so we tied a strap around it and used piano dollies and 4 people to lift it.  We could feel whatever was inside sloshing as we carried it.  We got to the truck and began to lift.  The contents inside shifted and someone dropped their corner.  The strap popped off and it went everywhere.  I won't describe what happened next but we all got sick and left.  I called some scrap metal guys and they picked it up a week later...they got sick too.  Good times

I bought a tax foreclosure tht had food and creatures growing in the food because electric was off and guy was in jail.   Memories. Sweet memories.

I'm trying to picture the scene when the fridge got shot....???  Was it the back of the fridge?

I can't believe they didn't take the beer, either.

It was in the side of the fridge that has a wall next to it that faces a bedroom. My suspicion is that someone was in that bedroom and was messing around with a gun when it went off. I'm obviously not thrilled  with my fridge being shot, but I'm glad the fridge took the bullet instead of a person.

As for the beer, I'm certain that was an oversight on their part because I don't think they would have intentionally left me those. ;)
