New member, looking around the Charlotte area

Hello, my name is Zachery, currently i am in the United States military. I've been looking into buying a few rental properties but have no idea where to start or an idea of how to get started with bank loans, taxes, which areas are better than others. How to figure these things out, if anyone could give me a few pointers id much appreciate it.
