Title Search Fee for a Deal that Fell Through?

Hi all,

Back in April I had a duplex under contract in CT. It was going to be my first investment and I was going to house hack. The deal fell through when the appraisal fell short..Thankfully so because looking back that house would have been a nightmare.

Anyway, now in October, 6 months later, I get a bill from the attorneys office for a title search fee.  The letter said that because the deal fell though, the fee is my responsibility. Is there any way I can get out of paying it? Its not much, just kinda bugs me haha.

Thanks, Mike.
