Managing rentals with extensive garden, ponds, etc.

Hi BP members.  I am currently living in a house while remodeling the kitchen and deck in preparation for rental.  I am curious if anyone has any opinions or suggestions on managing a house with a fairly nice garden and a pond (with fish).  I'm a little confused on how to handle the upkeep of the garden.  Would you recommend removing some of the garden that needs regular upkeep and just making it more plug and play?  I'm just assuming I should address the issue because, unless I find a green thumbed tenant, this one might be tough to manage.  Any first hand help, speculations, or ideas would be great.  Cheers! - Chris
