Should I do double inspection for Turnkey rental

Question

hello fellow BP fans,

I am about to close on my first Turnkey rental. The Turnkey / property management company I am working with is well known in my area and reputable

The company owner is doing his own home inspection using a third party real estate inspector now since he has finished the rehab.

My question is should I order my own inspection or should I rely on his inspectors reports?

If you pay this person and the contract is with you and him.. that's what you want

Get an inspection done by an independent inspector who you find on your own.  We use Angie's List and other sources for referrals.  We backed out on one turnkey deal that was supposedly ready, but our inspector found mold and dry rot and other problems.  It is a good layer of protection.

@Andy Hudgins  having been through a fair amount of New construction in Henry county .. if its starter stuff those homes are very much slapped together and built about as inexpensive as one can build.. Minimum building standards that's it.

H___ yes! I can't count on FOUR hands the number of new homeowners I've met in the past two years who used the inspector recommended by the seller's people who were KICKING themselves after the fact --- one in tears, many close to tears! Put EVERYTHING on hold until you've gotten the best guy/gal in town on the job.

I'm surprised the Turnkey Operator didn't suggest that you get your own inspection, seems to me like the type of thing that a good TKO would do.  Verify that we are on the same page!

Trust be verify... Send your own guy. The few hundred it will cost you may save you thousands.
