A Green Investor from Greenville

Hey BP!

My name is Justin and my wife and I currently live in the Upstate of South Carolina (we love it here!). For us, 2016 thus far has been a year of concentrated effort in the area of personal finance and investing, and I feel like we are learning so much every day as we take real positive steps for the future of our family's finances.

Real estate investing has really captured my imagination in the past several months, and I want to become a more involved member of the BP community because I believe that will be a catalyst to invest myself even more and take steps to get skin in the game. As for now, we are as "green" and inexperienced as they come - but know we have to start somewhere!

Currently we are renting and thinking about buying our first home near the end of this year after our lease is up. Somewhere along the way I've adopted the mindset that that means we will have to hold off on getting involved with REI for awhile - but I don't actually know if that's true. From everything I've been reading, it may be as good a time as any if we go about it wisely! At the very least, being involved here at BP will give us an opportunity to be well-educated as we buy our first home and prepare us to be active in the not-too-distant future.
