Buying first property with a partner, LLC or no LLC?

My coworker/partner and I are looking to purchase a multi fam investment property together. We will each be contributing equal funds however we are not sure how to go about actually purchasing it. Do we buy it as individuals? Do we buy it with an LLC? What are the first steps? What is the best way to go about the purchase of our first multi?
