Where do you buy your appliances?

Question

For flips. Refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher. Do you just go to Home Depot or are there better places to get appliance packages? From what I remember, Home Depot didn't have the best selection on refrigerators.

I check out our local Restore/Habitat for Humanity Warehouse store- they always have nice appliances that are high end and in new condition. We just bought a dishwasher that still has the plastic on it- it would have been over $800 at Home Depot/Lowe's but we paid $125. It depends where you're located though-we live in Aspen, CO and people are constantly redoing second homes that have had very little use and donating the materials to Restore. We also are not high volume flippers and I enjoy the hunt for bargains. :-)

We typically buy when they are having a sale at Lowe's here in CT or we buy from a local place called CAFD.

One tip to pass along is to do your research on the delivery charges and service that the store offers.  That is the number one frustration we deal with when having appliances delivered.  In our areas both Lowe's and CAFD have the best delivery services from our experience so we use them.  Make sure the store will take away the old appliances if you need them to also.

I buy everything from Lowes.  I don't have time to search for hours to save a $100 bucks.

Either Lowes of MFS Supply.  Lowes and Home Depot generally beat the heck out of everyone on Black Friday.  MFS Supply has good prices the rest of the year.

Home depot, and best buy too!  On my 4th flip, Best Buy threw in the gas line and the microwave cord when I bought them there.  They had a good rate for installation too.Make sure they're all the same brand, wherever you find the best deal.   HD has discontinued their taking 5% off if you show your Lowes card.  Bummer...

@Patrick Philip - I've had really good luck with Craigslist.  Always amazed at how well-maintained some people keep their appliances and how often they upgrade them!  Otherwise Home Depot or Lowes.

Go to a grocery store that sells Lowes gift cards during Black Friday events.  You can get $100 for $80.   Shop at Lowes and find a 10% coupon if you can or just use the 5% card and 9 times out of ten, get a 10-17% additional discount when then inevitably dent the appliance upon delivery.

This has happened 3/3 times for me.
