No title for single wide. So no insurance claim possible

Hello all, a newbie to this site. I used to love the Creia discussion group (Carolina Real Estate Investors Mobile Home Subgroup) but I guess it has been disbanded.

My 2002 Giles single wide mobile home was completely destroyed by fire this Saturday. I am just sick about it. Tenant there was renting with section 8.  It sat on 3 wooded acres and fortunately the woods did not go up in smoke.  Now I realize that I never obtained a title when I purchased it 8 years ago.  This was my first mobile home purchase and  I foolishly thought a bill of sale was enough.

Cannot find the seller(who was my home mover) or who he had bought it from only a week before.  I have the VIN number but the DMV tells me I may have to go to court and sue the seller before I can begin to get a title.

Anyone have any experience with such a dilemma?
