Opportunities in San Antonio for college student?

Question

I'm a high school student planning on attending UTSA. Are there any investors in the San Antonio area looking for help or would allow an intern?

I would like to learn the basics and have been told hands-on experience is the best way to do so.

Hey Anna. Good luck on the move. San Antonio is a great city and UTSA is in the heart of much of the growth in our community. Staying active on here is one way. There are also a few monthly meet ups like the SAREIA where you can connect with real estate investors, agents, and other professionals. There are a lot of great folks here who are willing to answer questions, refer a friend, and show you a thing or two.

First off, kudos for thinking well ahead of most students your age.   My recommendation would be to vet anyone willing to "mentor" you.   Think there are a lot of shady folks out there.   Are you going to be taking real estate related classes at UTSA?  You may want to reach out to some of the professors and ask them for recommendations.

Another good place to start is interning at some of the larger commercial real estate brokerages here in town.  This will get you familiar with the town and see where the growth is happening and who the major players are.   I would also look up CREW  (commercial real estate women) in San Antonio.  Reach out to that organization for direction.  They would be happy to help.
