Looking for education on how to use sites like Zillow

I have been doing research on REI for the past year now, listening to blogs, books, and reading as much as I can. When I try to apply what I learned I run into a hurdle.

Most of the information on analyzing a deal starts off "Alright, we have a 3 bedroom house for 200,000". Or finding a deal usually talks about driving, talking to an agent, or the MLS. I want to practice, but all I have are the sites like Zillow.

What is the best practice for using these sites?  I have a basic idea of the concepts of what I am looking for, but would like to hear some examples of people walking through the process like I would.
