Starting out and Starting your own Business?

Hello fellow BPers! I wanted to rack everyone's brains that braved the waters of entrepreneurship while starting their investing careers. For those of you who avoided the "Rat Race" and ventured out on your own, how did you do it? Where did you start and how long did it take for you to find your own lane?

I just feel that it would be beneficial for everyone to hear each others stories as to how you got to where you are now!
