On Facebook, there is a DFW investor group, and today they floated these two CPAs names:  David Zigo and Robert Gralla. I do not personally know either of them.

Also, in case you want to expand your search, these days being local is not that important. Here on this forum we have some 20 accountants specializing in REI and working nationwide.

@Steven Hamilton II I am currently in search of a CPA or similar to help to formulate tax strategies and review tax my past couple tax returns. Come to find out the guy I was using was not doing things correctly or in some cases AT ALL. I would greatly appreciate a referral in the Fort Worth area.

I have a colleague right near DFW I can refer you to.

You definitely need someone qualified, does not have to be a CPA, could be an Enrolled Agent or an attorney. Just make sure they specialize in tax and have significant experience dealing with real estate investors.

Also check out the www.NAEA.org page in your search. It should help you find someone local. If someone comes to me, I'll send them your way.

If you need help in your search or want to verify something don't hesitate to ask.

For example: I have clients worldwide and things are just as easy as I e-mail them, talking on the phone. I even use Skype and TeamViewer to communicate with clients so I'd highly recommend looking for one of the best with great references that interviews well with you.

So look for someone you can connect with that works out for your situation.

@Jason SmithHaving all the proper documents for 1 month+ prior to the deadline and it still being filed late is irresponsible.I would look for a new accountant ASAP(as it appears that you are doing).If you have previously filed your returns timely - I would see if you can call the IRS abate the penalties as a one time favor.

@Basit Siddiqi he unfortunately had zero communication from his office over months of trying to reach him.  When I finally stopped by his office he offered multiple excuses as to why my returns weren’t done including “we lost it”.  It was filed late after having all the paperwork he need to preform they prep in mid February, so now I have penilities that I’m responsible for.  Then upon reviewing the return he filed before sending it to me I found that he left off an entire rental property that was purchased and not depreciated. I could keep going but I think you see where I’m coming from.
