Newbie from New Orleans, Louisiana

Hi, my name is Christine and I am very new to real estate. I'm from the New Orleans area and I work in the medical field for now but of course I'm hoping to be able to change that. My goal with real estate investing is to ultimately be able to provide for my family financially and still be able to spend time with them. I figure that I can start off with wholesales to truly learn and to save money for rental properties. I'm having trouble with starting. I've attended many webinars I've gone to seminars and I feel truly ready to start but how? 

How did you  start? What was some of the obstacles that you faced? How did you overcome them? If anyone have any advice please share them with me it would be greatly appreciated.
