Getting higher education.

So I find myself in a situation where I have the opportunity to get my graduate degree paid for by the military. My end goal is to have passive income and financial independence when I finish my career (I love my job, don't want to leave early).

But as I was saying; I already have a BS and now have a chance to get my masters. My initial inclination is to get an MBA focused in finance. I would like any input, possible from people with similar or different education. Would the MBA help me in my goals? Are there better options?

I completely understand that investing can be accomplished without "official" education, I simply have a chance to further mine (so why not right?) and want to make a decision that will send me in the right direction.

Thank you for your help!
