How do I deal with LEAD PAINT?

Hello! I’m looking for some insight on lead paint. From what I understand, as long as it’s not peeling, you can just paint over it. I just want to verify that this statement is correct with people who have encountered it. And if it is peeling, about how much does it usually costs to scrape and repaint the entire interior of a 1000-1500 sq ft home? I know how serious lead paint is and that it’s really expensive to deal with, so I’ll probably only go into a situation with possible lead paint if nothing is peeling.
