Seeking advice on real estate career

Hi everyone,

I hope this post belongs here. Anyway, I recently left a PhD program to pursue a career in real estate. Making this switch is proving extremely difficult, as I have no experience in the field. I've been reading voraciously and networking with some people I know in the field, but I figured I'd send out a message on here to see if anyone has some advice.

Long term I'd like to one day work for myself and possibly live off my investments (though I'd like to expedite this as much as possible). But right now, all I'm trying to do is get my foot in the door. I've applied to entry-level jobs at CRE firms and property management companies, but everyone wants prior experience. I can't even land an interview for an admin assistant position! My question is, what is the best way to break into the field for someone with such little experience?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
