Major US cities Zoning to prohibit Air BnB?

Question

Investing in a property that makes good money with short term rentals w/AirBnb BUT so curious even if the condo building allows for this what good is that if Zoning eventually prohibits it, so my question is how can I find out the possibilty of an area loosing the right to rent short term?

Bought property in Condado San Juan but curious about all major city areas like Cambridge& Boston MA,  where btw it seems to be allowed (with city inpection in Cambridge)in resedential area that doesnt seem to be  "hotel zoning")

@Mike S. I would make sure any property you buy makes sense as a regular rental as well because you never know when a city might prohibit short term rentals. If it makes sense as a rental but might make more using airbnb, then by all means go ahead and do it. But I wouldn't count on it being allowed forever better to be conservative just in case.

@Josue Vargas funny timing. My friend over there (amongst other locals) have mentioned the same to me! With act 20 and 22 It would SEEM to be the last place on earth they would do it BUT read something about them doing it on Old San Juan or they atleast tried

Good news for your REI property in PR!

I recently read (link below, thought is in Spanish so try to translate in google) that the Puerto Rico Government is considering to pass a law to allow condos able to do AirBnB.  The main reason was they want owners to have flexibility to get additional income to protect them from bankruptcy if they are not able to pay their mortgages due to relocation to US mainland or other factors.

@Jeremy Taggart thank you. Very good point. Id cover it either way  but makes way more sence as a short term not only because the cash flow but the fact that its in the Caribbean and could block dates to get out of new england in the winter !

Building had written into the master deed some clause that has blocked complaints in the past. City has never been able to touch it yet. Hopefulyl helps it is surrounded by hotel and was orgibally designed a s a hotel condo
