Getting started in US Real Estate Investing from abroad

Hi all, for a bit of background I am a dual US/EU citizen living in Europe. I am keen to start investing and I am looking into real estate. I am loosely aware of the tax implications of investing in foreign assets outside of the US (at least as far as ETFs go) so I am looking towards the US Real Estate market. Just wondering if anyone here has some experience in investing in US real estate while living abroad. Is it feasible as a beginner investor? Has anyone came across a blog post which talks about this? I read the Beginner Guide as an intro and it was very helpful in understanding the options in the US, I hope to keep educating myself through this forum and site  :)
