What other countries make it easy to invest in real estate?

Happy 4th of July everyone! I am grateful to be lucky enough to have been born in a country that encourages and incentivizes private property ownership.

Having lived in various countries outside the US (Mexico, Colombia, Paraguay), I have studied their different laws and noticed that some countries attract foreign investments much better than others strictly due to the lack of red tape and corruption.

After the US, what are some notable countries that are easy to invest in and WHY?

I wouldn't recommend Canada...at least not Ontario...prices are pretty outrageous here (coming from a Realtor)...There is a huge shortage in Ontario and lots of competition. Buying anything under $200k is almost unheard of! Plus labour is expensive

Yes talking more to less corruption and favorable laws.

How would 100k into a rental property compare in Canada Vs US for example if the homes and markets were extremely similar? Yes hard work work is required either way but talking about a smoother process than say investing in Costa Rica or Germany?

I’m not sure what you mean by easy. But are you sure you want to do what’s easy? When it’s easy, there is a lot of competition and real estate gets overpriced. The best opportunities are found where it isn’t easy. And as so many successful investors mention in the podcast, real estate isn’t a get rich quick scheme. You generally need to work hard if you want to succeed. As one of my mentors says: «  Do what’s easy and life will be difficult. Do what’s difficult and life will be easy. »

If you’re taking about countries that respect the property rights and especially those of foreigners, the general rule is that Latin America and Europe are ok and Asia is to be avoided. Of course, there are exceptions like Venezuela. And some Latin American countries have a high level of corruption, which can be an issue or not.
