Anyone notice rats in Portland Oregon?

Question

During the pandemic traffic was reduced and animals started roaming around.

Was talking with our mouser and he was telling me about some high end areas (Stonegate, Waterhouse) in Beaverton having rats in their crawl spaces and attics.

Had an invasion in SE Portland where I am tearing out all the insulation and patching foundation openings.

Rat sh!t dust can kill you. Got my first sinus infection in 3 months. Beware!

There's aan expensive & fragile device, called Steri-Mist, built specifically for hospitals, for sterilizing walls, etc.. And it ionizes hydrogen-peroxide, into a mist, that kills germs. But don't know if this device is over-kill, for spraying down places in buildings, where rats are expected to be, or have been.-------------------------------------------The Hanta virus is supposed to be in some types of mice, which is a killing virus, kills through septic shock, kills the same way that COVID-19 virus kills. But haven;t heard that Hanta is now in rats. Also, rats are known for the Black death, bubonic plague. And this bacteria is in Oregon ground squirrels, so it could also get into rats.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clorox kills germs, but its corrosive.

I flips houses, and EVERY SINGLE one of them has rat carcasses either in the crawlspace or attic, and ofcourse their poop.

We use a local pest control company for our house, Morgan Pest Management. He told us that Portland has a high number of rats for the size of the city. It has to do with being at the intersection of two rivers and the shipping here. I'm not surprised the rats are becoming more visible with people staying home.

We have certainly noticed a big uptick in the rat population here in Eugene during the pandemic.
