Newbie Rental Owner - Remote STR vs Local STR

Hey everyone! First time posting here, but I've been researching STR for a while. Planning to invest sometime in the near future. Wanted to get some feedback on whether it's wiser as a rental property newbie to invest and run locally or invest and run remotely. I'm leaning toward a vacation market, but wanted more opinions on the topic. Thanks in advance!

@Zeke Pirtle imo the most important thing is choosing a mature vacation market with plenty of demand that has favorable ordinances already in place (ie find a place where tourism is the lifeblood of the local economy), this is far more important than whether you invest locally or at a distance. Demand. The markets with an outdoor draw are thriving right now, especially post Covid. Think lakes, oceans, mountains. Good luck!
