Has anyone been approved for FHA loan lately?

I just spoke with a lender in the St. Pete, Florida area and he stated he has not worked with any underwriters that has accepted and approved FHA loans for almost a year now. He also mentioned his credit score minimum is a 720. Has anyone ran into this issue? I'm trying other lenders out. Do anyone have any other suggestions.

I know someone is probably wondering... my credit score is mid 600s.
