Anybody want to mentor a Newbie in SC???

Question

Hello BP, my name is Travis Slusher and I'm a Newbie into the real estate market. I was wondering if there was anybody near Charleston, SC that would like to take a newbie under their wing and show them the ropes?

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I've actually attended a training seminar last week and I'm scheduled for a 3 day training seminar in June. I agree that knowledge is power and BP has some first class people that are willing to reach out to help others. Hopefully one day I can pay it forward.

Also Travis, I strongly recommend (if you don't already) go attend every REIA meeting in your area WEEKLY - be dedicated.  You'll network and you'll also learn about trainings in the area.  I went to as many free or low costs trainings/seminars that I could and it took about 4 months for me to figure out exactly what path I wanted to start on (and I'm sure that will change down the road).  As Brian Gibbons, said...there are many things you can do and it's very confusing on what to focus on at first!  You'll get pitched many products from gurus at these trainings too so just make sure it's what you want to focus on if/before you buy anything!

I truly appreciate your information. My goals are to rehab single family homes and flip for a profit so it can provide a better life for my family. I also would like to have rental properties to generate enough passive income so I can spend more time fishing. LOL!

I do spend a lot of time reading the different forums but I find myself not understanding a lot of the terminology, especially when it comes to the different financing options.

Travis Slusher if you're truly looking for a paid mentor (regardless of exactly how you're paying), you'll need to post an ad in the Marketplace forum.

But I would encourage you to spend you time reading here and asking questions before you start spending big bucks on a mentor.  Real estate isn't a particularly difficult or complex business.  There are mistakes to make, but that's true in most endeavors.

When you say you want someone to "show you the ropes", which ropes?  What is it you're trying to do?  What are your goals?  What resources do you bring into your new real estate business?
