Cornice in Baltimore City prevents lead-free cert?

Question

hi, I spoke with a company to explore changing from lead cert req w/every tenant change to lead-free cert.  I was told that if I have a cornice lead-free isn't an option.  also, there is some pretty old looking paint just below the cornice which may be prior to 1970 that would need to be resolved.  does anyone know if it is possible to cap a cornice or have a new cornice made that could also cover the paint? if so, what type of company should I contact?

Contact leadprobe. They will consult with you. I don't think you'll be able to use the aluminium they use to encapsulate window sills on a cornice. It sounds like you are so close to lead free I encourage you to go for it. If not you could go limited lead free and only need re-inspection every 2 years.

great, thanks Stephen.  left a vms for Leadprobe.  wondering if the issue will be resolved less $$$ if I just replace the cornice with slightly larger one to cover paint.  no idea if non-wood cornices are even made......
