NPI - National Forclosure Institute Anyone Know Them??

Question

Hello,

Been rehabbing for a while, and aswe all know forclosures are booming.  Has anyone heard of or attended a seminar  or classes, or have gotten a certification from NPI?  AKA National Forclosure Institute?  This company, I believe was founded by Ann goldschmidt and I attended a seminar held be veteran investor Ed Lisogar.  Would love some feedback.  Thank You.

Butter,

Having someone give you a kick can be a great thing. If that is what someone needs then it can be money well spent.

Granted many who look to others to motivate them will stall once they leave a seminar.

I went to one of their weekend classes with my nephew and it was informative. Now of course they're trying to sell you something; it's a business. I said the same thing to the other people in the class when they got bent out of shape when they heard the sales pitch. But you could also get all the same info by going to your local bookstore's real estate section. In my opinion it was worth it. But we all know about people's opinion. Anyway it lit the fire under my butt to get started and sometimes that's just what you need.

Other than holding a real estate license from the state or being a member of the Realtor organization there is no 'certification' that is going to be well recognized and of value.

Any group can offer a 'certificate'. If you pay me another I will think of something to certify you in.

I have never heard of them and know nothing about the material they teach. It could be great or complete crap. Most organizations that offer a certificate are just trying to make the price sound reasonable. If they were only selling information you would pay X. If they tell you you are getting a certificate then you can pay more.

Education is important. How you pay for your education is the key.

I went to one of their presentations (aka sales pitches for the weekend boot camp) here in Denver.  They're basically selling a short sales course.  I didn't get a good feeling about it, for two reasons.  One is that they push "and/or assigns" as the technique to flip the property.  Reading here, we know that doesn't work.  The other is they made no mention of the Colorado Foreclosure Protection Act, which has very specific requirements on anyone doing this business.  Trying to do this sort of business without knowledge of that law will get the wholesaler into deep doo doo.

If I was going to do one of these workshops, I would take the one our REIA puts on periodically.  Its done by people working locally.  There are also lawyers involved who are very familiar with the act, and know what's required.

I've always been leary of any company with "institute" in the name  :lol:   But seriously...never heard of them.  It's not necessarily a bad thing, but my favorite people to do business with are those that come by direct referral from someone whose opinion I respect and trust.

Second favorite are those that come by referrals from people I don't know, but who seem to have no vested interest in promoting the company / person being referred.

I don't have a third favorite.  If one of those two criteria aren't met, I pass.  I just don't have the time and energy, and I refuse to allocate the financial resources to experiment.
