Where can I find phone numbers to cold call?

Question

I'm not afraid of the phones. However, it's difficult to obtain those phone numbers of people outside of your sphere. Want to be able to tap into another funnel of business, but how do I obtain those numbers? Do I have to purchase list? Which websites / apps can be trusted?

What are you trying to achieve?  What are you calling about?  You may not be afraid of the phone but will the people on the other side feel the same way?  Before you buy lists and start dialing for dollars, you'll need to have a discussion with your Broker about having any list scrubbed for those on the National and State Do Not Call List.  The fines for non-compliance are substantial ("Companies that illegally call numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry or place an illegal robocall can currently be fined up to $43,792 per call." Since your license is with a brokerage, your calls are their liability too).

I respect you wanting to do more, reach more, get more...you might be better off by finding someone in the community who would be willing to introduce you into their sphere of influence. It's a much faster way to get to quality people than random calling.

If you are going to try and be more targeted you can find phone numbers for free (but very slowly) using truepeoplesearch.com or as @Bruce Lynn mentioned there is RedX (which I have personally used in the past) Vulcan7, Mojo, etc. I have found truepeoplesearch to be the slowest, but most accurate with phone numbers, while services like RedX can download many contacts all at once but will have a lot more dead numbers, previous owners etc.

If you have money to start you can also use services like Ringless Voicemail messages to get infront of many homeowners all at once.

Cold Calling is how I got started as an agent 3 years ago because I was 21 and too nervous to ask my family/friends before I felt I knew what I was doing well. I would agree with @Patricia Steiner that sphere of influence is definitely a more effective way to go for your main strategy, and maybe you can add in cold calling to supplement it.

Start with good.   I often just type in address and bingo I get a phone number.

Otherwise there are services that provide #s...like RedX and probably a million others.

If you are an agent there is also LandVoice, Mojo, and several others.

Hey Scott,

What leads are you trying to cold call ? ex. FSBO,FRBO,Expired , Circle Prospecting , Absentee Owners ?

I use Vulcan7 to get all my data . They are pricey but they have everything you need if you want to grind on cold calling

@Scott Danielson remine is built into the MLS Matrix Portal and is pretty easy to use to generate data for any type of list you'd want.  Also, Mojo Dialer has been helpful as well.
