should I or my husband get the real estate license??

Question

My husband is part owner of an investment company for flipping houses and is currently the one persueing his license. However, I have been wondering lately if it would be better if I was the one who got the license mainly because we are doing a lot of direct mail and it seems like these people do not want to have to deal with realtors and maybe it would just be easier having someone who is not technically the business partner as the one with the license? Any thoughts??

@Jessica Holwick Either you or your husband, get the license. The other can then get access to the MLS or you can pay as an associate and get access without kicking the other one off, if you plan to be on it all day. The license gives you access to NAR, and all sorts of great technology, classes, and the upside is huge compared to just getting the license for a task here or there. Research the firms you may work with, Keller Williams, Remax, Prudential (Berkshire), or other local firms, and see who offers the most LEADS, Training, and perks as a Realtor. You can make this into a terrific business, if you choose.

I'm not sure it would hurt. I have my license and although I don't want to do anything with it right now I have it and it will be there when I do. I guess the plus side is that you have more options for people who might want to go the traditional route plus you have access to the MLS. The downside are the fees and the other broker rules. It's worth looking into though for sure!

you most certainly should. real estate is like riding a giant roller coaster. it definitely has its ups and down but wow when it is up it is awesome.
