Title company calculated my taxes credited wrong
Hi - Wondering what can do now. I just sold/closed on my house on Thursday (7/2/2020), so the deal is final. This morning, I was looking at my mortgage payoff and while looking at things in more detail, I noticed that the title company calculated my credit for the taxes (county and school) that i have already paid incorrectly. Looks to be around $500-$600. What can i do to try to recoup this money? Really appreciate any insight and guidance on what course of actions i could take.

Look through your pile of papers from closing, and you should find something along the lines of a "Compliance and Proration Agreement".
It probably says something to the effect of "The closing agent prorated the taxes based on last year's tax bill and/or the latest available info. Buyer and seller hereby agree to this proration. If any discrepancies are discovered later on, the buyer and seller agree to work it out between themselves".
That being said, I would suggest calling the title company first and having them explain it to you. You may be missing something, and/or may find that they were actually correct in their calculations.
