How do you market to Section 8?

Hi BP,

Wondering if anyone here rents to Section 8 voucher holders? Is there a way you specifically market to this group of people? I've so far posted in FB groups (not many that I could find) and listed on affordable housing.com.

Currently have several units that has been vacant for several months and trying to get creative to fill those vacancies in. I've already done the work to make the units Section 8 compliant.

You can market them the same way and just note in the ads that you accept Section 8 vouchers. Different areas often have websites specifically for this kind of thing. For example, I'm in KC and this website is specifally for people looking for voucher properties so we would post our voucher properties there too. https://www.myhousingsearch.com/tenant/MO/Search.html?type=r...

NY probably has a similar thing.

50% of my portfolio is Section 8 which is no longer called that. It's now called Housing Choice Vouchers. I use Affordable Housing.com and Turbo Tenants with the First Line Vouchers Welcomed.

You must vet them and do your due diligence, Credit Screening etc. the way that you do a market rate tenant.

Advertise in the regular locations saying you accept Section 8 and they're come to you in droves.

There is also GoSection8 as well.
