To help update deed records following a legal name change

Hi, I recently have a legal name change, and I own 2 rental properties in Fairfax county, VA. What is the most cost-efficient way of updating the deed records? I was hoping that this is an easy process, given how frequent name changes are following marriages. Fairfax county helpdesk seems to suggest that I can only do it via a RE lawyer. Is this true? Please help.
