TAX lien and Deed Training

Can anyone recommend good classes or eminars on Tax lien and deed investing. Everything my sons and I look at seem to be just a sales pitch to get you to join a team or invest with no control on the process or the outcome. We are not opposed to a group but want to be able to make our own decisions and really understand the process.
