Sect 179 as it pertains to rental property

Hi guys,

Tax question for you:

Just curious as someone mentioned that I could utilize Sect 179 of the tax code to take depreciation in the same year instead of capitalizing it over X years on certain items pertaining to my rental property. They also mentioned something about bonus depreciation as well..... I just don't see this being possible.

Can any of the Tax experts shed some light on this? I am thinking this person is incorrect as if this was the case I am sure it would have been discussed here and I would have know about it....

As always thx in advance,

Chris
