The IRS Just Made Penalty Relief Easier. That Is Not an Excuse to Keep Messy Books.
I’ll be honest, a lot of investors wait until tax season to find out how disorganized they really are.
That is usually when the penalties, missed forms, and bookkeeping problems start showing up.
Yes, the IRS just rolled out a simpler automatic penalty relief process for some eligible taxpayers. But I would not confuse penalty relief with good tax strategy.
They are not the same thing.
Good tax planning starts long before the return gets filed.
Clean books.
Clean records.
Clean decisions.
That is what gives you options.
I think a lot of investors spend too much time chasing deductions and not enough time building a clean system behind the deal.
Curious what others think.
What causes more tax pain for investors in real life, bad strategy or bad bookkeeping?
