Gave away $1M to celebrate my 50th birthday :-)

For many years I've been building my real estate empire so that I could do philanthropy at scale. My chosen mission is addressing extreme poverty, which I do by donating to Opportunity International (). In 2024 this organization used just $36M in donations to reach over 20M clients in over 30 countries and taught farmers, educators, and entrepreneurs how to plan for growth and access $2.5B in local bank capital to achieve this growth. They help people achieve food security, build schools for their community, and scale up businesses to employ people. In my mind, this is the only way that really works, because if you provide financial education and access to capital, you teach people how not to need you when they wish to grow more, allowing you to move on the the next group of clients. OI has helped over 500M clients over its 50+ year history.
