Tom Schneider is a director at Roofstock and has served leadership roles in technology, operations, and investor education. Similar to many investors, Tom was and drawn to systems and real estate after reading Robert Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad Poor Dad.” Tom is an active California real estate broker and investor with a buy and hold strategy in the Southeast and Midwest.

Experience
As an entrepreneur and technologist, Tom has a knack for building. Whether it’s companies, technology, or real estate, Tom loves visualizing “done,” mapping the journey, and putting in the work to get there.

Prior to Roofstock, Tom led product development at one of the first publicly traded single-family rental REITs. Tom’s team led software development to support acquisitions, construction, property management, and dispositions. From this experience, Tom honed his skills in agile software development, managing a global team, and getting things done. Tom has also worked as an independent technology consultant for various verticals including manufacturing, insurance, and health care.

Tom is active in his local community. Tom is a parks and recreation commissioner for the City of Orinda, board member of Oak Springs Neighborhood Community, and served mentorship roles within BUILD.

Education
Tom holds undergraduate degrees in legal studies and city and regional planning from UC Berkeley and a master’s in information systems from the University of San Francisco.

Tom is a Six Sigma Yellow Belt and has held various Salesforce credentials including Sales Cloud Consultant, Services Cloud Consultant, and Platform Developer.
