My goals for 2020. What are yours?

One the things I learned from BP that I love the most is the goal setting for the new year. My fiance and I started this last year and really enjoyed it, for not only personal goals but couple goals. So what is everyone's goals for the next year?

Mine are the following:

1. Read 52 books. I attempted this goal last year and really enjoyed it. I got to 30 which I was actually very happy with. It forced me to develop a skill and I learned a lot about different things in the process.

2. Purchase 2 more rental properties. I set the goal for last year to purchase one and was able to achieve this through a partnership. I want to use the stack method now and continue to grow my portfolio.

3. Run a marathon. I was able to run my first half last year, which was a big accomplish as I had never ran before. I signed up for a marathon, but did not train the way I need to so I did not attempted after receiving some advice that I could really injury myself. Very much looking forward to achieving this one.

4. Double my sales as an agent. This is similar to the stack method on the portfolio. I know that if I continue to increase my sales that it will allow me to other things like expand my portfolio.

5. Have at least one date a week with my fiance. We are in the early stages of wedding planning along with her starting a new career so we have every excuses as why to not make this happen. That is why this one is the most important to me. I must carve out time every week for her and make it my most important thing I do!

I can't wait to see what I learn as I pursue each of these goals! 2019 was a blast of a year and I can't wait to make 2020 even better. What is everyone else goals? Looking to learn a new skill? Add more properties to the portfolio? Or even just be more presence in every day?

@Jonathan Averett Love your goals! The bring the wife home is an awesome one. I have a long-term goal to have my fiance be able to go part time by the end of next year and able to quit if she wants to the following. What are you plans for the meetNgreet speaking? I actually was just talking to another member today about starting one in our area and would love to hear your ideas on how to get this done. Best of luck with all of these!

@Patrick McGrath That morning routine is critical. I implemented the miracle morning last year and loved it. When you get your morning off to the right start it allows your day to be that much better. Any specific area you got mapped out for you and the wife in Europe? Best of luck with the goals this year!

@Daniel Umstead Appreciate that! Glad I could help. I think breaking the goals down into the 90 day sprints is a great idea. Brandon Turner talks about that a lot and BP offers his journal to help with that. What are you looking to have the virtual assistants do for you? Best of luck with all of your goals for the year!

@Kai Van Leuven Best of luck with the application! I know it is place for investing, but it is also about being around other goal driven people. No one can and should define what your goals and success looks like for you! Number 3 is a tough one. Letting go and allowing others to take over task has always been hard on me. Also I think it is awesome you are so passionate about coaching. I actually am an assistant basketball coach for a high school team and have some big goals for me team as well. Best of luck with all of your goals for this next year and beyond!

@Jon Hill this is great. I have been thinking allot about my goals for 2020. I am in the middle of my first flip right now. I’m a little over half way done. I have been thinking allot about what my next move is. This next year I would like to buy another flip property and also start on my ultimate goal which is buy and hold for the long term. I think 2 properties is a reasonable goal for 2020.

I wold also like to get back into jogging and working out. I missed that the last few weeks as I have been busy with the renovation of the project I’m currently working on.

I would also like to read more business books this year and start forming an idea of what a sustainable real estate business looks like for me, putting a plan in place, and start taking action within that plan.

I think this next year is going to be amazing.

    Thanks for sharing.

I’d love to connect! I’m still very very early into my journey, but I’d love to help in any way that I can! I plan on getting started in either Detroit, Michigan  or Indianapolis, Indiana but its more likely that I’ll start my house hacking adventure in Indianapolis since this is where I currently live then eventually spread out to Detroit.

Today is my first day on BP, so just nosing around.  But I love goals so just have to add my two cents.  Typically I set goals in many facets of my life to be as well rounded as possible.  Here are some of mine:

    1. Go to at least 150 hot yoga classes (Sculpt, Power, Hatha).

    2. Do at least 150 Gym/ Powerlifting/ CrossFit classes.

    3.  I have 3 doors now, three more close tomorrow (Triplex), two more close mid Jan (duplex) and my first commercial building closes end of Jan (6 plex).  That's 14 doors I count towards 2019 and I wanted 20 by the end of 2020.  That seems modest now but I'll leave it unchanged for now.

    4. Continue my real estate investing education with BP, books, experiences and transactions.

    5. Further develop and round out the people I count as teammates - especially fellow investors and portfolio lender(s).

    6. Focus on my regular day job and keep that humming along.

    7.  Focus on family, kids and wife and be the best man I can be for them.

That's enough for now.  I loved reading everyone else's goals as well.  Good luck to everyone in 2020.

@Jaret Walker Great goals, and in Crossville you're so close to one of the best short-term rental markets there is!  I own four STRs in the Sevierville area and they kill it, always working on adding to my portfolio.

If I get up around $50k gross i think I can bet around $20k . I'm selling my primary business (insurance agency) in January so that will give me a jolt of cash to get to $50k. It's about 8-10 houses Is all.

Thats fantastic man! We have made leaps over where we were at 3 years ago (without any property), but to say the least, have not purchased a velocity that I know have been capable of. I love hearing details like these.  Should be exciting once the business is sold! Solid work man, best of luck this coming year, cheers!

@Wes Harrington awesome ! It's good to connect with people in the same trend ! I left a Major thing off my goals list but I'll share. For the last 7 years i have owned an insurance agency and I am in contract to sell it January 2020! I can't wait! I'm also bringing my dad on to work for me. He is a master carpenter and one of the best cabinet and trim guys around not to mention he can do it all, run it all and knows all

The tricks and subs! I have 3 flips lined up and a new build so those can keep him busy and make me money to pay him and when I need a rehab or work , make ready etc for a rental I have the team in place. Basically operate like my

Own personal construction company ! Once the buyout happens , I will sprint to a 50k gross rent !

    2) Learn from that purchase!

    3) Close on a second property before 2021

    4) Set the math equation up for an age-55 retirement (13 years from now)!

    @Jon Hill

I have a HM lender I am working with to buy foreclosure auction properties.  Otherwise I am going to sell my current home which will enable me to get a house.  And I should be able to almost save up enough to cover a 2nd property.

Currently I only have 15 varieties of blueberries, 2 apple trees, cherries, currants, elderberries, honeyberry, and 3 different varieties of raspberries.

This next year I hope to plant 12 apple trees, 3 or 4 pear trees, 80 raspberries, 50 blueberry, 10 grapes, 10 elderberry, 20 cherry bushes.

In 2020, I will make my goals come to fruition.

To find a multifamily in Saint Louis, I will not rely on the MLS. Instead I will create networking leads to find my next house hack.

If I keep doing the same things, working, saving, etc... I'll be waiting for around and hoping for a break, like the cashflow game. Instead I will create one or more wealth accelerators ... see MJ Demarco - The Millionaire Fastlane

Last but not least, balance the now with the future. To me that means balancing structure and fluidity in all aspects of life.

@Jon Hill I've just started down my REI journey. My goals for 2020 are:

    1. Listen to every Bigger Pockets podcast, I've listened to roughly 20 to date.

    2. Read 24 books, my list keeps growing the more podcasts I get through.

    3. Flip 5 properties.

    4. Expand my MHP knowledge, and buy one.

    5. Be able to stop working at sea and spend more time with my daughter.

    6. Get below 200 pounds, ( 17 more to go)

    7. Expand my rental portfolio by  3 units

And I'm sure my goals will grow over the year.
