Renting Rooms in my house

Heather Rummel
Posted

Hi everyone!  I just bought a house in los angles and can only afford the mortgage if I get roommates.  I have a 4 bedroom house with 2.5 bathrooms.  I will have the primary bedroom with an attached bath.  That leaves 3 bedrooms with one shared bathroom and a .5 bath for everyone.  Any advice for how to proceed?  Do I get a property manager to help manage?  I don’t know what I’m doing.  Any advice would be so helpful!

Get leases in place, create a separate account for the rents to be deposited. Use some sort of app to record and track tenant communications. Turbo Tenant is a popular one. Do background checks on anyone applying.  Ideally you can get people you know and want to live with.
