Are bandit signs permissible in Raleigh?

@Dante Nava  - 100 feet outside the city limits is often not "the boonies".  Sure, fewer leads, but less time spent putting up and taking down and putting back up and taking down.

@Bryan L. When you put them up out there, I'm sure they stay up longer, but how good are the leads you get from them? Or are you talking about going to the places where there is a transition between two cities as opposed to going out into the boonies? : )

haha this is the truth.  They must have came here one after the other the last 3 months because I have never seen so many.  You can tell who got hyped up by the gurus because you call their signs and either

a) the number is disconnected

or

b) you get a call back like 5 days later, if ever.

When I call all I say is "Hi, my name is Eric, I see you buy houses, give me a call"

I honestly don't think I get a 25% response rate, and within 24 hours it has to be below 10%.

Anyway, Raleigh doesn't allow them but I seem them all over the place now.  I have put some up (for mobile homes) and never gotten a nasty call, but I put those out in more rural areas, not at like Six Forks and Millbrook or the middle of North Hills.

@Wayne Hunter Although they are illegal in Raleigh you see them all the time in SE Raleigh... Most put them out on Friday night and pick them up on Sunday evening (in North Raleigh) when the sign police aren't working. Wayne you can always tell when a guru puts on a seminar in Raleigh because you see signs everywhere a day or two after they depart. Whatever you do, don't ever think about putting a single sign in Cary, they will track you down and fine you some crazy amount per sign.

Here, they are collected, we have sign police they get paid per sign. Track you down, go to court and get fined, get an order to cease, caught again you get a larger fine, too many signs out? Then you go to jail for contempt of court.

The other thing, here they ran news stories about unwanted and illegal signs. They made it socially unacceptable to trash up the streets.

Most people frown on those that use them, they painted these illegal sign users as fly by nights, scammers, unlicensed law breakers that should not be trusted. They have a point, if they break one law when do they stop breaking laws? People are told to contact Realtors for assistance or licensed contractors. :)

The residents and police in Raleigh remove them whenever they see them.  I called the city after replacing the directional for rent sign I had placed in the median outside the neighborhood 3 days running, and they told me no signs allowed.  In addition, many neighborhoods actually restrict signs in the yard as well as most newer neighborhoods in Raleigh are HOA.  One limits the type, and another HOA says only in one front window of the home.
