Question: What to do about your main city?

TLDR: Main investment hub below C class in safety. Where would you invest or what would you do?

Hello, I am saving up capital to house-hack in the next year to really begin and jumpstart my REI portfolio. The thing is, I live in Montgomery County Ohio, where the most multi-family homes are in ... lovely Dayton, Ohio. Crime is high.

I actually live in a nice little town (we live in the country currently). But there aren't a whole lot of options when it comes to multi-family in our area.

I am a young male nurse, working 24 Hr/ week. Any insights into what to do? I guess I will look into areas like Kettering, Oakwood, Troy, etc. for multifamily properties in the future. Is this what you would do?
