Looking to Buy My First Investment Property
Hi everyone!
My name is Austin, and I'm excited to join the BiggerPockets community.
I graduated from Penn State in 2024, and my long-term goal is to build a portfolio of investment properties that provides financial freedom. My primary interest is multifamily real estate, but I'm open to other investment opportunities if they make sense.
Over the past several months, I've been educating myself by listening to the BiggerPockets Podcast, practicing underwriting deals, and connecting with a local investor-friendly real estate agent and lender. I plan to get pre-approved this fall and begin pursuing my first investment property when the right opportunity comes along.
I'm planning to invest primarily in the Lancaster County, PA area.
Right now, my biggest focus is continuing to learn, build relationships, and prepare financially so I'm ready when the right deal presents itself. If anyone is investing in the Lancaster County area or nearby, I'd love to connect.
A couple of questions for the community:
- - If you were buying your first investment property today, what would you focus on, and what mistakes would you avoid?
- - Based on where I am today, what should my next steps be before purchasing my first investment property?
I appreciate any advice you're willing to share. Looking forward to learning from everyone and getting involved in the community! Thanks in advance!
